I had the privilege to meet with Meghan from Nova Scotia, Canada this week for our episode 3 in the destination dreaming focused episodes. I am in awe of what Nova Scotia has to offer! Honestly, wow! There is waaayyy too much to do in one week, I think we should make our visits at least 10 days, or plan another trip! It is so refreshing to tour our own country, you know the language, and the dollar is always at par. Plus, you don’t need to worry about your cell coverage. You won’t have any large roaming bills when you explore your own country. Also, let’s face it, this area is so culturally rich it needs to be explored!

Here is the video for you to see.

Getting to Nova Scotia is really fast and easy! It is serviced by many airlines, and even from the opposite coast the flight is only 5 hours, so it really won’t take you long to get here!

You will be landing in Halifax, and then you can tour out from there. Halifax is a vibrant town, with some gorgeous areas that you can tour! The Boardwalk encompasses 10 city blocks. This would be a great place to sit and watch the sunset while enjoying a seafood dinner!

I could not believe that the fresh lobster is less expensive than chicken! Being from Southern Ontario that is so strange to think of that! Bring on the lobster!

Halifax is home to some amazing museum’s I would enjoy to see the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and learn all about the Titanic. I am a huge history buff so this would be right up there in what I like to do while on holidays. They also have the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site.
If gardens are more you thing, then the Halifax Public Gardens, are for you! They are also home to the Canadian Museum of Immigration.

They also are home to a UNESCO World Heritage site in Lunenburg. I love the colours of the houses here! The red and yellow and blue are so vibrant. I just know I will be taking hundreds, if not more, pictures here!

Lunenburg is home to the Bluenose II What did you think of Meghan’s story about how this ship got its name? Interesting… She said that it got its name due to the fabric dye coming off their gloves onto the sailor’s noses, so they returned home with blue noses. hmmm, that’s a neat story! Fact or Fiction? You just have to go to Nova Scotia to find out. 🙂

Speaking of pictures, In Yarmouth & Acadian Shores you can take this time-lapsed photo. Can you tell I love taking pictures? There are so many spots to get “that” shot! The one that makes you want to frame your picture! Then when you see your picture you remember your great vacation here.

There are some very informative Indigenous experiences here. This area is so culturally rich and diverse You won’t have a shortage of areas to explore. Can you see why I suggested at least 10 days to explore?

At Kejimkujik National Park you can paddle a canoe, hike, camp, and connect with nature. When the sun sets, the skies over Kejimkujik reveal a beautiful panorama of tens of thousands of stars in Nova Scotia’s only Dark Sky Preserve. There is no light pollution here! You can camp under the stars and you can actually see them! Bring a telescope or rent one, to get the best views! We have some high powered binoculars that are just as powerful as a telescope, and they pack so much easier. I would recommend getting a pair of those.

There are rock engravings known as petroglyphs to explore and canoe routes paddle on. You can follow the routes that the Mi’kmaw people have been exploring for thousands of years.

The Bay of Fundy is one of the 7 wonders of the world! And no wonder it is! The Bay of Fundy’s unique shape amplifies the tides to as much as 56 feet high which is the height of a 5-storey building. Fundy has the highest tides on earth. You HAVE to see it believe it! Please reach me at Kathleen@PlentyofSunshineTravel.com to get you here!

In this picture, at the high tide, the water goes up to the tree line. Incredible!!

See the ship with the blue hull? It looks like it is dry docked… but at the higher tide, it is up at the dock level! Just amazing to see!

If you are more of an adventurous traveller and you want to do more high energy activities well they have you coved here too! You can go Tidal Bore Rafting.

This is similar to white river rafting. But, not white lol In fact… do NOT wear white you won’t get these clothes as clean as they were when you started out.

You will be riding waves that can be up to 13 feet high in a Zodiac boat in the world’s highest tides in the Bay of Fundy. It’s like riding a roller coaster in the Shubenacadie River. Your guides take you cascading down rapids as the incoming ocean reverses the flow of the river. It is an experience you have to do.
This is a Canadian Signature Experience, you won’t find this anywhere else!

You can take this tour for two hours or opt for the four hour rafting expedition, this is not complete without the mudsliding fun afterwards!

If you love Celtic Music, then you will have a blast at their Ceilidh’s (pronounced Kaylee – or my Daughters name spelled Caely) It is the Gaelic name for a party. You can enjoy the Ceilidh at the local pub and enjoy listening to music and dancing the night away. The people of Nova Scotia are so friendly you will blend with the locals so well. You will be welcomed like. friend.
